Bitcoin treasury and mining stocks are publicly traded companies whose fortunes are closely tied to bitcoin. Treasury companies such as Strategy (MSTR) hold bitcoin as a reserve asset on their balance sheet, so their equity behaves partly like a leveraged claim on BTC. Mining companies such as MARA and Riot earn bitcoin by securing the network, giving them exposure to both the price of bitcoin and the economics of mining.

For investors who cannot or prefer not to hold bitcoin directly, these stocks offer a regulated, brokerage-accessible way to gain exposure to the asset's price movements.

Because bitcoin is the common thread linking these businesses, their share prices tend to rise and fall with BTC — often with amplified swings.
